SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NOVEL CARBOXYMETHYL ASSAM BORA RICE STARCH FOR ITS BIOMEDICAL APPLICATION
ABSTRACT :Carboxymethyl Assam Bora rice starch (CM-ABRS) was chemically synthesized in non-aqueousmedium with the optimum degree of substitution (DS) of 1.23, and physicochemicallycharacterized by FT-IR, Thermal and CHN analysis. The flow behavior and swelling capacity ofthe modified starch were assessed and compared with those of the native Assam Bora-rice starch(ABRS). This research aimed to explore the potential application of CM-ABRS as a novel carrierfor delivering water-soluble chemotherapeutic agents.
