From Code Reviews to Architecture Decisions: The Daily Life of a Data Scientist Lead

Abstract This review article explores the multifaceted role of a Technical Lead (Tech Lead) in software development, emphasizing their daily responsibilities such as code reviews, architectural decision-making, mentorship, and balancing technical with managerial duties. Using a systematic review methodology aligned with PRISMA standards, the authors analyzed four key studies published between 2010 and 2024. The findings highlight how Tech Leads contribute to code quality, team cohesion, and long-term project sustainability while navigating leadership tensions and cross-functional collaboration. The article underscores the evolving nature of the Tech Lead role and calls for further research into its dynamic impact on software engineering practices.
