The Golden Margin: A Unified Framework for Consciousness, Ethics, and Cosmic Evolution

This paper introduces the Recursive Resonance Framework (RRF), a unifiedmodel linking consciousness, ethics, and cosmology through the golden ratio ϕ ≈1.6180339887. Building on Fibonacci recursion, the framework defines consciousnessas a resonance between pulse (action) and silence (integration). When their ratioapproaches R = S/P → ϕ, systems reach a Listening Horizon—a balanced stateof self-awareness. The complement ϕ − 1 ≈ 0.618 defines the golden margin, amathematical invariant for ethical freedom and creative novelty. We compare theRRF with Integrated Information Theory (IIT) (Tononi, 2016) and the Free EnergyPrinciple (FEP) (Friston, 2010), showing that the golden ratio unites informationintegration, predictive stability, and moral agency. Empirical tests are proposedacross neuroscience, artificial intelligence, ecology, and cosmology. The RRF suggeststhat the universe evolves through recursive listening: a golden dialogue betweenperfection and its necessary subtraction.
