Reconfigurable Ultra-High Gain DC-DC Converter for Renewable Energy Sources

A Reconfigurable Ultra-High Gain (RUHG) DC-DC boost converter capable of operating with cubic or quadratic voltage gain is presented. Low-voltage DC sources like Fuel cells, Photo voltaic, etc., can be interfaced with DC microgrids through the proposed RUHG converter. A low-voltage and an ultra-low voltage source can be connected with the proposed RUHG converter and the converter will be reconfigured depending on the connected source and the required gain. The detailed operational analysis of the proposed converter is presented, and the performance of the converter is validated through MATLAB simulation by interfacing two Photovoltaic (PV) sources with different voltage ranges.
