Practicing sport for social impact
Sport has taken on multiple dimensions due to its global impact and its ability to promote movement as an essential factor in various aspects of a person's life, community, or society in general. In this context, the concept of "social impact sport" as a social intervention has emerged, referring to the use of sport and physical education to address significant challenges such as pollution, discrimination, poor health, limited access to education, and low community involvement. Socially, sport represents an accessible and inclusive environment where young people have the opportunity to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, broadening their horizons and cultural diversity. These encounters contribute to cultivating empathy, mutual respect, and tolerance - fundamental values for strengthening social cohesion - and create a sense of community and collective identity. Sport thus becomes a source of pride and personal achievement, providing young people with a positive framework for self-expression and social recognition.
