CYBERSECURITY AND NIGERIA'S ROLE IN COMBATING TRANSNATIONAL DIGITAL THREATS
In the modern globalized society, cybersecurity has become a significant issue in countries that are exposed to more advanced transnational digital assaults. As the largest economy in Africa and the most quickly digitizing country, Nigeria is a key location in regional and global initiatives to fight cybercrime and improve cyber resilience. This paper will discuss the nature of cybersecurity in Nigeria, the digital infrastructure of the country, legal frameworks and institutional mechanisms. It also emphasised the involvement of Nigeria in regional organizations like ECOWAS and African Union, and association with international partners like INTERPOL. In spite of the significant improvement, Nigeria is still struggling with the technical, policy, capacity, and jurisdictional issues impeding effective response to cyber threats. Based on recent case studies, the paper highlighted successes of Nigeria and outlined the strategic options on how to enhance its cybersecurity posture. The recommendations are aimed at improving international collaboration, law revision, capacity building and developing public-private relationships to establish a vigorous and active cybersecurity climate. The research stands out as an addition to a global effort in combating cybercrime in Nigeria and provides some viable recommendations to policy-makers and stakeholders
