Revised records of Scarabaeus (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) in Ukraine: Exclusion of S. sacer from faunistic lists

A thorough examination of all available collection materials on the genus Scarabaeus, stored in the collections of E. M. Savchenko and V. Lazorko, confirmed the absence of Scarabaeus sacer Linnaeus, 1758 in these collections. During the detailed review of the material, misidentifications are corrected and an overview of publications concerning species of the genus in Ukraine is provided. The obtained data are described and illustrated. This work primarily serves to provide recommendations for correcting the lists to be included in the next edition of the Red Book of Ukraine.
