Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO): An Institutional Framework and Experimental Evaluation for Legal-Service Discoverability in AI Search Ecosystems
Abstract This institutional research paper by Clarity Infra, a research-led organisation pioneering Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) for U.S. law and immigration-service providers, introduces a structured methodology designed to enhance the visibility and interpretability of professional-service content in AI search ecosystems. Building upon advances in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), schema-based optimisation and AI explainability, the study defines GEO as an integration of three pillars: content structuring and authority building, schema and metadata optimisation, and corpus linking with multi-source consensus. Using a simulation of 50 synthetic immigration-law service pages, the paper compares baseline SEO content with GEO-optimised versions through a semantic embedding retrieval model. The results demonstrate an average 47 % increase in generative-search retrieval probability (95 % CI = 46–48 %), supporting the hypothesis that structured data and authoritative linking materially improve AI visibility for law firms. Ethical considerations are also examined, referencing the American Bar Association Rules 7.1–7.3, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and the Stanford HAI AI Index 2025, ensuring compliance with transparency and professional-conduct standards. The report concludes that GEO can serve as a reproducible, ethics-aligned framework for professional-service optimisation within AI-driven search environments.
