Augmenting the Wideband Auto-Ambiguity Magnitude Bounds for the Wideband Null Condition
As communication data transmission rates increase, widespread use of wideband signaling will be demanded to pass information in a timely manner. The use of the wideband signals over a doubly dispersive, or delay spread and Doppler spread, channel is difficult and requires the use of signal processing to compensate for the channel effects. This paper extends the concept of wideband auto-ambiguity function (WBAAF) sidelobe nulling to be appropriate for these wideband signals. A lower and an upper magnitude bound are developed in this paper for a desired null slice, or area of reduced autocorrelation, on the WBAAF surface. This is done by extending the WBAAF magnitude bounds developed by Richard Altes. We first develop the theoretical construction, and then validate via numerical simulations. This work is important for communication and remote sensing applications where it is desirable to utilize wideband signals in time varying channels.
