INTEGRATING THE PEDAGOGICAL WHEEL AND SAMR MODEL FOR ASSESSING STUDENTS' 4C COMPETENCIES
This paper synthesizes two complementary strands of research: the use of Allan Carrington’s Pedagogical Wheel and the application of Puentedura’s SAMR model in assessing students’ competencies, with a focus on the 4C skills—critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Drawing on two case studies, it illustrates how integrating these models creates a robust framework for digital pedagogy and competency-based assessment. Quantitative and qualitative data from undergraduate and master’s students indicate significant improvements in 4C competencies when both frameworks are combined. The study underscores the potential of blended digital tools and taxonomies to promote deep learning, authentic assessment, and lifelong skills.
