Supplementary Video S1 and Video S2 for "Learning to fear: Predator recognition in giraffes is shaped by evolved sensitivity and ecological experience"
These video files illustrate representative giraffe responses to playback stimuli from the two study sites. Video S1 shows a male predator-experienced giraffe at Mogalakwena River Reserve briefly orienting toward a lion roar-grunt playback and showing no response to a dove coo call. Video S2 shows a male predator-naïve giraffe at Lapalala Wilderness sustaining prolonged vigilance in response to the same lion stimulus, also showing no response to the dove playback.
