Intra-organisational communication challenges in the automobile industry: the case of atlas Honda, Pakistan

The main aim of the research under consideration is the identification and assessment of themain intra-organisational communication challenges that are faced by the automotive sector ofPakistan. This involves a detailed discussion and elaboration of factors that are involved inintra-organisational communication. The automotive sector occupies a critical role in theeconomy of any region. One of the key factors thatadd to the effectiveness of the automotive sector, as seen from the developed economies, is thepresence of effective intra-organisational communication structures. To attain the aim in the proposed study, the research relies on quantitative methods based onthe positivism philosophy to analyse the major intra-organisational communication challengesthat are faced by the automotive sector of Pakistan. Data collection has involved the selectionof a sample, based on 350 individuals from Atlas Honda, an automotive sector organisationbased in Pakistan. Additionally, even though Atlas Honda is headquartered in Karachi, it hasoperations across the country, with manufacturing and assembly taking place in other areaslike Sheikhupura. Since workers from both these locations have been targeted, a decentrepresentation of the entire workforce is ensured. Quantitative information to support dataanalysis and hypothesis testing is obtained with the help of a research questionnaire. Analysisof the information has been collected using IBM SPSS Multiple techniques is used, withregression and correlation forming the basis of hypothesis testing, while descriptive statisticsand reliability testing contribute to the robustness of the analytical model used. The researchhas used secondary qualitative information for supporting, explaining and elaborating theresults of primary analysis and helping in the synthesis of findingsThe gaps present in the existing literature about intra-organisational communication, as well asits significance intra-organisational to a firm’s performance, makes it necessary to evaluate itin the context of the automotive sector of Pakistan. The findings of this study indicated thatintra-organisational communication in the automotive sector of Pakistan is faced with a numberof challenges. These challenges stem from the industry characteristics and their relationshipswith intra-organisational communication. In addition, broader factors, like the generalised lackof resources in Pakistan or the impacts of the country’s culture on managerial practices, oftensignify the challenges at hand.
