Atrial insufficiency in young men with metabolic syndrome.
Multifocal atherosclerosis and erectile dysfunction (ED) are closely interrelated and significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular complications. The study conducted a retrospective and prospective analysis of middle-aged patients, which showed a high prevalence of ED (83.7%) among men with multifocal atherosclerosis. Associations have been established between the severity of ED and lipid metabolism disorders: increased total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, changes in levels of lipoprotein(a), apolipoproteins A and B, as well as a decrease in HDL. The use of the ICEF-5 scale in combination with an expanded laboratory assessment of the lipid profile makes it possible to more accurately stratify the risk of ED progression and justify personalized therapeutic strategies.
