HUMANISTIC INSIGHTS AND ETHICAL REFLECTIONS IN THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL
Values are essential beliefs shared by human beings which distinguish good deeds from the deeds which are not considered good, thereby giving meaning to life. Human Values are deeply embedded in our conscious that we do not even know that they even existed. Every human being is guided by a set of core values which constitutes their intrinsic foundation. In 1942, with the Nazis occupying Holland, 13-year-old Anne Frank and her Jewish family went into hiding in the "secret annex" of an old office building. While living there, Anne recorded her experiences in a diary. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and a compelling self-portrait of an extraordinary young woman whose life was tragically cut short. Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has become a world classic. It is a powerful reminder of the horrors of war. It is an eloquent testament to the human spirit and the Human Values ingrained in the Diary are a good source of learning to the readers of all ages, young and old.
