Clinical Case of Surgical Treatment of False Strangulation in Indirect Inguinal Amyand’s Hernia
INTRODUCTION: Amyand’s hernia is an extremely rare form of surgical pathology, which occurs when the appendix is included in the hernial sac and often causes false strangulation in the indirect sliding inguinal hernia. The incidence of this pathology ranges from 0.07–0.13% to 2–4%. The clinical presentation of the considered disease is characterized by evident polymorphism due to, on the one hand, topographic-anatomic features of the vermiform appendix in each clinical case, and on the other the variability of pathomorphological alterations in the dynamics of the pathology. The article describes a clinical case of surgical treatment of the right-sided Amyand’s hernia. CONCLUSION: The awareness of surgeons about this rather rare device increases the probability of a correct diagnosis, which, in turn, reduces the number of intraoperative mistakes, improves the effectiveness of treatment and reduces the risks of probable postoperative complications, and also prevents repeated surgical interventions.
