Finlandia i Szwecja w polityce bezpieczeństwa morskiego NATO – Morze Bałtyckie jako „jezioro” sojuszu?

The article discusses the role of Sweden and Finland in NATO's maritime security policy, drawing attention to the key challenges and threats that have emerged in the Baltic Sea basin after the Russian aggression against Ukraine. By joining the Alliance, the two Scandinavian countries nearly complete their encirclement of the Baltic Sea, helping to consolidate the Alliance's defence efforts in intelligence, technology and naval operations. The cooperation between the two countries' fleets and their ability to harmonize their activities with NATO will increase the level of security in the Baltic basin, changing the existing political and military imbalance, which has so far been beneficial for Russia. As a result, the Baltic Sea could become a "NATO lake", which will increase stability and security in the region. The article poses, a key research question: What role will Sweden and Finland play in NATO's maritime security policy in the Baltic Sea basin? The main objective of the article is to define this role and to analyze the impact of the accession of these two countries on regional security dynamics, especially in the context of Russia's increased military activity.
