ELIMINATION OF INTER-COLUMN PRESSURE USING THE GRAVITY METHOD

This article discusses the gravity method of inter-column pressure (ICP) elimination, which is based on redistribution of pressure in the inter-column space by using natural gravitational forces. The causes of inter-column pressure, such as poor-quality cementing, casing corrosion and geological factors are analyzed. Particular attention was paid to geological characteristics of reservoirs affecting the efficiency of the method, including examples from Karachaganak, Nuraly, Akshabulak and Astrakhan fields. The research methodology included analysis of existing data on well conditions, modeling of pressure redistribution using the gravity method, and evaluation of its efficiency in different geological conditions. Materials and equipment used to implement the method are considered. The advantages of the gravity method are its relative cost-effectiveness and minimal interference with well operation. Gravity method of intercasing pressure relief using microbarite injection has a number of significant advantages. Injection of microbarite into the annular space allows not only to effectively redistribute pressure by gravity, but also to improve sealing. Microbarite, due to its high density, helps to create a stable barrier that prevents fluid migration. This approach is particularly effective under conditions of increased reservoir pressure, as microbarite has the ability to form strong sediments that are resistant to formation fluids. Additionally, the use of microbarite improves the accuracy of pressure control because its injection can be tailored to specific geologic conditions. This minimizes the cost of additional isolation works and eliminates the need for complex technological operations. Thus, the gravity method with microbarite injection combines economy, reliability and high efficiency in eliminating inter-column pressure.
