Fictioning Philosophy: Epistemological and Methodological Foundation of a Prospective Hermeneutics for Advanced Technologies
Abstract This article establishes the epistemological foundations of Fictioning Philosophy as a formal philosophical discipline, proposing the Philosopher-Fiction method as a universal hermeneutic operator for exploring technological futures. Confronting the inadequacy of traditional ethical frameworks to address challenges such as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), we demonstrate how this constructivist approach transcends reactive analysis through the systematic creation of narrative possible worlds. The work makes three fundamental contributions: (1) the epistemological formalization of the discipline based on a synthesis of Gadamerian hermeneutics and possible worlds theory, enriched with Speculative Realism and contemporary fictioning theories; (2) the establishment of four constitutive philosophical principles that define its methodological status, now operationalized through specific techniques of speculative fabulation; and (3) a demonstration, through the analysis of paradigmatic applications and a five-part evaluation matrix, of its unique power to anticipate axiological dilemmas under conditions of radical alterity. We conclude that Fictioning Philosophy represents a necessary advancement in the methodological arsenal of contemporary philosophy, endowing it with real prospective capacity in the face of technological acceleration.
