A ROLE OF AYURVEDA MANAGEMENT IN VIDARIKA (PERICHONDRITIS) – A CASE REPORT.

Introduction - Pinna perichondritis is the inflammation of the perichondral layer surrounding the auricular cartilage. [1] Conventionally it is treated by antibiotics. This condition is correlated with Vidarika having lakshanas like Savarna, stabdha, saruk, swayathu. [2] Vidradhivat chikitsa is suggested for management of Vidarika. [3] Materials and methods - In this case study, a 34-year-old male patient came to OPD with complaint of inflammation over right pinna and pain from past 7 days and diagnosed as Vidarika. He was treated with oral medications, Sukshmatriphala vati (two tablets thrice a day), Kaishor guggul (two tablets thrice a day) and Jalaukavacharan (two sittings). Result and conclusion - In this study, inflammation, tenderness and pain of pinna was resolved with oral medications and Jalaukavacharan. This highlights the effectiveness of Ayurveda management in treating acute diseases and prevention of disease. Randomized control clinical trials should be conducted on appropriate sample size in future.
