The Sea‑Purifier System — An Integrated, Beyond‑Compliance Marine Emission & Microplastic Remediation Platform (Concept v1.0)
We propose Sea‑Purifier, a three‑module, ship‑integrated system that adapts our wheel‑based Purifying Rotor to maritime use. Module A (Exhaust‑Spiral Sponge) places a low‑Δp, PMMB/PMM cartridge and ESP‑Lite/WESP assist within a venturi‑aided exhaust spiral to polish PM and co‑capture acid gases upstream of the stack outlet. Module B (Propeller‑Hub Rotor Purifier) embeds venturi passages and a sealed PCore cartridge in a hydrodynamic hub‑shroud where shaft RPM supplies both airflow and motion‑harvest power; seawater provides passive thermal management. Module C (Clean‑Wake Bubble Curtain) injects fine bubbles carrying biochar/SECs sorbents into the wake to scavenge residual particulates and microplastics for recovery at the stern. We define power/flow budgets for a 50 m yacht and 200 m cargo ship, outline MRV‑as‑a‑Service at sea (stack/effluent sensors + LoRa/VSAT), and provide a TRL plan (CFD bench rigs → 100 kW stack mock‑up → 200 h yacht trial → cargo pilot in ECA waters). The concept targets compliance and beyond‑compliance capture of PM/SOx with minimized wash‑water discharge and circular handling of recovered concentrates.
