The Law of Layered Repair: A Universal Principle of Stability (v1.0)

Complex systems often fail not for lack of intelligence, but because a single control is asked to carry the whole burden of stability. We propose The Law of Layered Repair: an event-triggered core (TGRM) wrapped in simple layers—caps, adaptive cooldowns, buffers, macro nudges, variance guards—so each layer catches what others miss. In our simulated environments, this architecture sustains service with light intervention and damped amplification. This is a falsifiable claim. If a calibrated regime shows an Adaptive baseline matching or beating Layered on total cost at equal service, or shows Layered needing > 2.5 repairs/month, the claim fails—by design. This record includes the preprint PDF and a reproducibility bundle (tidy tables, figures, and a single-command script: python scripts/make_figures.py) so anyone can rebuild the evidence. If your world wrestles with delay, volatility, and feedback, consider this an invitation: stability can be architecture, not luck. Why this is safer: Uses “we propose” and “in our simulated environments” (no overreach). States falsification exactly as defined. Names the script verbatim for accuracy. Keeps the hooky last line without claiming absolute truth.
