AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF KARNINI YONIVYAPADA W.S.R. TO CERVICALEROSION AND ACUTE CERVICITIS: A CASE STUDY

Background: Karnini Yonivyapada is a condition that happens due to the vitiation of vata and kapha along with rakta. It signifies an elevated lesion over Garbhashyagreevamukha, i.e., the cervix. The lesion is said to resem-ble the pericarp of a lotus flower in appearance, so it can be correlated with cervical erosion. Although in this case report, the clear symptoms of acute cervicitis are also observed. Case presentation-A 25-year-old married female came to the OPD of PTSR with middle socio-economic status residing at phase 5, Mohali with the chief complaint of pain in lower abdomen and vagina that aggravates after intercourse for 5 months (severe pain in pelvic region since yesterday). She was also having associated complaints of mild itching per vagina which is aggravated for one month along with white discharge P/V on/off since 5-6 monthsand constipation on/off since last 1 year. The initial treatment plan includes shaman as well as shodhana therapies (the sthanika procedures). Agnideepana, Amapachana, Shodhana, Kashaya rasa, Raktashodhaka, Vataanulomanaaushadhies are pre-scribed along with Yonidhawana, Yonipichu, and Kshara karma as local procedures. Conclusion- This case study demonstrates the effectiveness of Ayurvedic interventions in clearing the passage and treating the local pathology. Pathological erosion should be eradicated by destroying the ectopic columnar epithelium and making a healthy cell environment for the regression of that erosion.
