Design of Compact TE10-TE01 Mode Converter with Elliptical Choke Slots
This paper proposes an improved TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf> mode exciter with elliptical choke slots to address multi-stage waveguide adaptation in conventional TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">10</inf>-TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">20</inf>-TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf> cascaded conversion systems. Two key innovations are developed: (1) A direct coupling architecture between the narrow wall of standard rectangular waveguide and circular waveguide center eliminates the TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">20</inf> rectangular waveguide transition stage. Coordinated optimization of circular waveguide dimensions, positioning, and choke parameters (depth/width/position) achieves compatibility with standard rectangular waveguides while reducing parametric design complexity. (2) The elliptical choke slot’s parameter-decoupling capability enables a 70 MHz frequency tuning range through single-variable choke slot width, overcoming multi-parameter coupling constraints in conventional designs.
