Standard operating procedures for the Training Lesson Template Maintainer
Executive SummaryThe ELIXIR Lesson Template initiative began in 2022 in response to the challenges ofcollaboratively developing training materials across multiple ELIXIR Nodes. At the time, theabsence of a shared lesson format led to inconsistencies in how materials were created, presented, and maintained. To address this, a dedicated group within the ELIXIR TrainingPlatform was formed with the goal of establishing a common, reusable infrastructure tosupport collaborative lesson development. This effort was funded through the ELIXIRTraining Platform 2024–2026 programme. The outcome is the ELIXIR Lesson Template - a GitHub-based template designed tosupport the creation of FAIR-aligned training resources. It enables contributors fromdifferent Nodes to work together efficiently and ensures a consistent structure, presentation, and branding of training materials across ELIXIR. This deliverable presents a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the development andmaintenance of ELIXIR Lessons. The SOP provides a structured, transparent process forlesson creation and governance, outlines roles and responsibilities, and promotes the use ofthe ELIXIR Lesson Template. It is designed to ensure lesson quality, consistency, andlong-term sustainability across the ELIXIR ecosystem.
