Standardization Evaluation of Water Supply Pipeline Network Failures
With dwindling global water resources, escalating production costs, and energy scarcity, countries have prioritized research on pipeline leakage, making it an indispensable aspect of the entire water supply industry. This study aimed to address prevalent leakage issues in water supply networks by systematically classifying and standardizing pipeline network ailments through analyzing pipeline material characteristics, corrosion protection measures, and infrastructure. This study proposed a standardized method for detecting water supply pipeline network defects in China, accompanied by detailed classification, grading, and scoring criteria. The water supply pipeline networks in China were assessed using the pipeline repair index. This assessment method provided a scientific and objective basis for formulating targeted repair and maintenance strategies, thereby offering a crucial reference for reducing pipeline leakage rates. In conclusion, this study established a comprehensive framework for evaluating water supply pipeline network failures in China, which is expected to contribute to improving the management and maintenance of water supply pipelines and reducing leakage, ultimately ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the water supply system.
