Emerging virtual English teaching in Covid pandemic and post-pandemic AI innovation

Distance Education evolves in the 21st century. This instruction has been further accelerated in 2020, 2021 and 2022 under conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. These settings have meant that university professors have had to take even greater advantage of the tools of Information and Communication Technologies to establish a distance connection with students and teach in that social context. The objective of this work firstly was to take advantage of ICT and its different tools to teach and facilitate the study of the English language to a group of distance students, in order to achieve a level of certification according to the Common European Framework for Languages. Secondly, to show how Artificial Intelligence accelerates innovation in post-pandemic era. Scientific methods such as historical-logical, inductive-deductive, observation, documentary analysis and statistics, among others were used to contrast the elements that are addressed. Various means were used such as computers, mobile devices, digital networks and conventional analog telephones. Positive results were obtained in this type of teaching with a group of thirteen distance students from various regions of the country. The work has a practical and theoretical testimonial value for teachers. It invites reflection and improvement of virtual teaching in difficult conditions through the explanation of strategies that lead to better teaching and learning foreign language. The study also considers some literature about post-pandemic period and takes into account that the use of AI is growing in distance virtual language education, restructuring teacher roles and student independence.
