Legitimate interest as a lawful basis for AI training: limits, safeguards, and governance
This thesis intends to answer the following questions: · Can legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR serve as a lawful basis for training AI models on personal data? · Considering that legitimate interest is not enough to comply with special category data restrictions, what alternatives can be put in place for this type of processing? · Which mitigation measures (including obligations under the AI Act) should be implemented for a privacy compliant governance framework?
