The Green Industrialisation Imperative: Strategies for Renewable Energy Manufacturing and Jobs in Emerging Economies
ABSTRACT The urgency of climate change, rising energy demand, and global calls for sustainable development have positioned green industrialisation as a critical pathway for emerging economies. This paper examines strategic models for renewable energy manufacturing and employment creation in the Global South, where the need for industrialisation intersects with environmental imperatives. Drawing on historical lessons from past industrial revolutions, the study highlights the shift toward eco-efficiency, industrial symbiosis, and circular economy frameworks that redefine competitiveness in the 21st century. Three strategic models public-private partnerships, cooperative enterprises, and technology transfer initiatives are evaluated for their potential to stimulate renewable energy manufacturing and job creation. Case studies from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas demonstrate how local capacity building, cooperative schemes, and regional collaboration can overcome barriers such as financing gaps, policy inconsistency, and technological dependence. The findings suggest that targeted renewable energy manufacturing not only enhances energy security but also generates high-value employment, supporting inclusive socio-economic growth. The paper concludes that a coordinated hybrid strategy, combining domestic manufacturing, global technology cooperation, and workforce development, is essential for achieving sustainable industrialisation and employment resilience in emerging economies.
