Feminist Pedagogical Frameworks for AI and Metaverse Integration: A Thought Experiment and Practical Implications

Higher education is experiencing a profound pedagogical transformation through the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Metaverse technologies, a development that demands careful evaluation. This paper offers an initial step in that process. Drawing on a feminist pedagogical framework, we propose guidelines for the responsible and inclusive implementation of these emerging technologies. As a thought experiment, we envision a digital learning environment grounded in feminist principles, designed to foster equal participation, collaborative learning, and reflective practice. Within this system, AI tutors identify and address participation gaps, virtual spaces incorporate safety features and reflect diverse user communities, and gamified elements emphasize group learning over individual competition. This research translates its speculative model into practical applications for both educational practice and institutional policy by introducing collaborative assessment methods, conducting equity audits of AI systems, and engaging students within virtual learning environments. We argue that feminist pedagogy should be recognized as a fundamental requirement for designing learning spaces that integrate technological innovation with social transformation.
