FINANCIAL LITERACY AMONG UZBEK YOUTH: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
This article examines the positive trajectory of financial literacy among youth in Uzbekistan from both scholarly and practical perspectives. Drawing on a rapid literature review and desk analysis, it synthesizes evidence across education, the financial services market, and civil society initiatives. Findings indicate that life-skills content—budgeting, saving and investing, cash-flow planning, digital payment ethics, and financial security—is increasingly embedded across general secondary and higher education. In parallel, a rapidly developing banking–fintech ecosystem and inclusive outreach—plain-language materials, visual tools, and offline options—enable youth to apply financial literacy in everyday practice. Synergy between education and media (infographics, video lessons, and podcasts) strengthens motivation and participation, while user-friendly digital services provide safe, practical pathways to adoption. Uzbekistan’s policy emphasis on financial literacy as a core life competency, together with digitally resilient infrastructure and active community engagement, underpins steady progress and creates a favorable environment for the next phase of innovation.
