ASSESSMENT OF HEAVY METAL CONTAMINATION IN SOILS OF TOGLIATTI CITY
The results of a study on the soil cover in various functional zones of the Tolyatti city district are presented. The total content of cadmium, cobalt, manganese, copper, lead, and zinc was determined using atomic absorption spectrometry. Lead content exceeding the established MAC value was detected in the city's studied soils. Specifically, in the industrial zone, lead levels were found to be 1,15 times and 3 times higher than the MAC at two monitoring points. Zinc concentrations exceeding the MAC were detected in the residential zone (1,05 times higher than MAC) and in the industrial zone (1,38 times higher than MAC). The calculation of the total contamination index showed that the city's soils can be classified under the 'permissible' pollution category.
