The Effectiveness of Youth Activity Programs for Enhancing Digital Literacy

This study aimed to design a youth activity program for digital literacy and examine its effectiveness. After obtaining approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB), this study conducted a program with 30 youths aged 11-14 years, who were divided into the experimental group (15 participants) and control group (15 participants). The program comprised 14 sessions and lasted eight weeks. Pre- and post-survey data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Mann-Whitney U test, and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results revealed that the program significantly increased the participants’ digital literacy. Significant improvements were observed in digital information, data utilization, and digital content creation and expression. These findings indicate that youth activity programs focusing on participation effectively promote digital literacy. Consequently, this study recommends designing participatory programs that reflect youths’ interests and needs, establishing a foundation for collaborative growth among youth workers, conducting comprehensive analyses of factors affecting digital literacy, and developing policies to facilitate the dissemination and sustainable implementation of digital literacy programs.
