The northern limit record of the Silverspot Squirrelfish Sargocentron caudimaculatum (Holocentridae) from southern Boso Peninsula, Japan

A single specimen of the Silverspot Squirrelfish, Sargocentron caudimaculatum (Rüppell, 1838) (Holocentridae), was collected along the quay of Amatsu Fishing Port, on the southern Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture, Honshu, Japan in December 2022. Until now, the northernmost record of this species in Japan was from Shima, Mie Prefecture. Therefore, the present specimen represents the northernmost known distributional record of the species in Japan.
