First specimen-based record of Coreoperca kawamebari (Sinipercidae) from the Arakawa River system, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan
Five specimens of Coreoperca kawamebari (Temminck and Schlegel, 1843) collected from the Arakawa River system in Tokyo Metropolis, Japan, represented the first specimen-based records of the species from the river system. Although the species is native to Honshu west of Kyoto Prefecture, it has been recorded as a domestically introduced species in several regions, including Tokyo Metropolis, and Kanagawa, Shizuoka and Mie prefectures. The species has also been recorded from the Tama and Sakawa river systems in Tokyo and Kanagawa, respectively, located near the Arakawa River system. The populations in these regions clearly represent introduced populations.
