Application of the ARINC Method for Reliability Allocation in Signaling System for Urban Rail Transit
The preliminary signaling design for urban rail transit systems often encounters challenges related to unreasonable reliability allocation due to incomplete statistical data on failures. To address this issue, this paper presents a reliability allocation approach based on the aeronautical radio incorporation (ARINC) method, utilizing a fault schedule established from the service affecting failure (SAF) evaluation indexes. Firstly, a fault schedule is developed for the signaling systems in urban rail transit, to identify fault scenarios that could potentially impact system availability. Secondly, a reliability allocation model is established for these systems. Finally, the ARINC method is employed to assign reliability indexes within these systems. The study results indicate that the application of the ARINC method facilitates rational reliability index assignment within signaling systems for urban rail transit. This ensures that system availability targets are appropriately assigned to subsystems that support traffic operation and a lower reliability index is assigned to subsystems with relatively low fault hazards. The assignment results closely aligns with the actual reliability indexes of real-world products.
