IMPLANT-PROSTHETIC REHABILITATION STRATEGIES IN YOUNG ADULTS WITH UNTREATED OLIGODONTIA AND ABSENT SPACE MAINTENANCE

Aim of the study: This paper aims to explore the therapeutic implications and implant-prosthetic rehabilitation strategies available for 20-year-old patients diagnosed with untreated oligodontia and no prior space maintenance. Materials and methods: We reviewed existing literature and clinical protocols focused on prosthetic treatment in young adults with congenital edentulism. The assessment covered the clinical and anatomical challenges resulting from early tooth agenesis, focusing on bone volume loss, space closure, and altered occlusal relationships. Results: Due to the absence of space maintenance during development, young adult patients often present with collapsed ridges, reduced interradicular space, and asymmetrical occlusion, complicating implant placement and prosthetic planning. Multidisciplinary strategies involving orthodontics, bone augmentation, and guided implantology were evaluated. Conclusions: In cases of untreated oligodontia, implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation must be preceded by comprehensive diagnostic workups and often requires complex bone and soft tissue regeneration procedures. A staged, interdisciplinary approach is essential to achieving functional and aesthetic outcomes.
