Transformation of family reading magazines in the domestic periodicals market
The transformation of the institution of the family, the change in traditional family roles leads to a significant complication of intra-family communications. In this context the spirit of the family and family traditions can be shaped and preserved via family reading. The history of Russia shows that magazines for family reading contribute not only to the development of the personal and social characteristics of an individual, but also strengthen the family as a social structure. This type of publications began its active development in the 30s of the XIX century. Family-oriented publications are present in the media market until this day, retaining some of the features of their predecessors andadapting to modern realities. The magazines for family reading in the format familiar for the readers of the pre-revolutionary Niva or the Soviet Ogoniok do not work in the modern media market. Over time, many of the features of the type of publications under study have been modified or completely disappeared. Probably, in this way, publishers adapt to the changing reality and new interests of the readers. However, we note that the question of the need to revive the tradition of family reading as an important part of upbringing and educational work with children is becoming increasingly acute.
