A Junction Temperature Balance Control Strategy of IGBTs Based on Optimal Zero-Voltage Vector Distribution for Two-Level Three-Phase Inverter
This paper proposes a junction temperature balance control (JTBC) strategy based on optimal zero-voltage vector distribution, which is used to improve the collective lifetime of two-level three-phase inverter composed of insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). Firstly, by adaptively allocating the action time of two zero-voltage vector in common-used space-vector PWM strategy to minimize the maximum power loss of each IGBT, not only effectively relieve the unbalance junction temperature between different IGBTs of inverter, but also have little influences on voltage outputs of the inverter. Then the optimal solution of the objective function under each switching period can be obtained by applying piecewise linear programming, so as to determine the adaptive distribution coefficient of two zero-voltage vectors. Finally, experimental results are presented that verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed JTBC strategy.
