ing the current Lake Louise criteria, the group of patients with suspected myocarditis was divided into 2 subgroups: those with confirmed myocarditis (group B1) and those without confirmed myocarditis (group B2).In all subjects, mean T2 values were collected from 16 left ventricular segments. These data were subjected to statistical analysis using ANOVA, taking into account the division by gender (F and M). Results:The mean values of T2 time (53 ms for F and 51 ms for M) were higher in the sick group (B1) compared to the other study groups (p < 0.001 for all comparisons). For the control group, the mean T2 time was 48.3 and 47.5ms for F and M, respectively. In the convalescent group (group C), it was 50 ms for F and 48.2 ms for M, and for group B2, 49.5 ms for F and 48.5 ms for M. Conclusions:The recovered patients do not differ from the group of patients with suspected myocarditis, which was excluded, but they differ from healthy volunteers, which indicates the need for further monitoring.T2 mapping seems to be an ideal tool for this purpose, allowing for a shorter CMR examination time, no need for repeated administration of a contrast agent, and thus the possibility of safe and frequent follow-up examinations within a few months of the acute phase of myocarditis.A higher T2 time after the acute phase may suggest the transition of myocarditis into the chronic phase, which potentially predisposes to the development of heart failure.Further studies are necessary, including verification of CMR parameters with biopsy results.
