Seismic safety analysis of the Guazhou pump station
The Guazhou pump station, a representative project awarded the Luban Prize, plays a crucial role in flood control and drainage in the urban area of Yangzhou. This pump station, classified as a Grade II project, employs a bored pile foundation design. Given the importance of the project, it is essential to conduct a seismic safety analysis to assess the impact of seismic loads on the pump station and to validate the design while providing feedback for engineering improvements. The three-dimensional finite element method(3D-FEM) is a significant numerical simulation technique for studying structural safety performance and has become a key tool for evaluating seismic performance. This study focuses on the Guazhou pump station, establishing a 3D finite element model and using the Code for Seismic Design of Hydraulic Structures as a basis. The modal dynamic response spectrum method was employed to simulate seismic dynamic responses, with numerical simulations conducted using ABAQUS software. By analyzing the deformation and stress of the pump station, the seismic safety of the Guazhou pump station was evaluated. The results provide valuable insights for the seismic safety analysis of similar projects.
