Performance Evaluation of Magneto-Electric Monopole Antenna

This paper presents a compact Magneto-Electric (ME) monopole antenna. Based on image theory, a vertical ground plane is placed to change the radiation direction with respect to the ground plane. This ME monopole antenna was designed at 2.5 GHz and a high front-to-back ratio of 20 dB was observed. As a result, we designed a monopole antenna with a single directionality without using a reflector.

Abstract

This paper presents a compact Magneto-Electric (ME) monopole antenna. Based on image theory, a vertical ground plane is placed to change the radiation direction with respect to the ground plane. This ME monopole antenna was designed at 2.5 GHz and a high front-to-back ratio of 20 dB was observed. As a result, we designed a monopole antenna with a single directionality without using a reflector.
