Modelling and Control of A Dual PMSM Drive With Integrated Boost Function1

Aiming at the issues of high cost, large volume, and low integration in traditional two-stage motor drive systems, this paper proposes a common-bus dual-motor drive topology with an integrated DC-bus voltage boost function. This topology enables to increase the dc-bus voltage by utilizing the zero-sequence components of two motors through neutral-point power supply. Firstly, the average equivalent model and equivalent circuit of the proposed topology are established, revealing the mechanism of the integrated bus-boost function. The composition of the topology is demonstrated, and the average model of the topology is developed, along with an equivalent circuit under this topology. Subsequently, to achieve decoupled control of the DC bus voltage and the motors, a pulse-width modulation method based on zero-sequence voltage injection is proposed, and the overall control strategy of the system is presented. Finally, a simulation and experiment are carried out on a 1.2 kW dual-motor drive system to verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology and control strategy.
