Impact Of Human Resource Management Practices On Competitive Advantage Achievement: In The Case Of Commercial Bank Of Ethiopia, Dire Dawa District
This study examines the impact of human resource management practices on the competitive achievement of Commercial Banks of Ethiopia (CBE) in Dire Dawa District. A mixed research design was used, with both qualitative and quantitative methods. Secondary data were collected from CBE documents and reports, while primary data were obtained from self-administered questionnaires completed by 202 employees from 10 CBE branches selected through convenience sampling. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS and Excel. The results indicate a strong and positive relationship between employee training and management practices, performance appraisal management practices, and strong negative relationship between compensation and reward practices with CBE's competitive achievement. However, the study found no significant positive relationship between employee recruitment and selection practices and CBE's competitive achievement, despite previous studies suggesting otherwise. The study recommends that CBE Dire Dawa District better update its human resource management practices in the areas of training and development, performance appraisal, and employee compensation and reward to maintain its competitive advantage in the growing Ethiopian banking sector. By doing so, CBE Dire Dawa District can attract and retain talented employees and contribute to the bank's long-term success.
