Numerical Modeling of Unsteady Heat Transfer in an Axisymmetric Body Made of Non-Homogeneous Material Using the Finite Element Method

In this article, the problem of transient heat conduction in a non-homogeneous axisymmetric body is solved using the finite element method. The cross-section of the three-dimensional axisymmetric body is discretized into a finite number of linear triangular elements. To verify the correctness of the developed algorithm and software, the transient heat conduction problem in a complex homogeneous axisymmetric body is solved. To ensure the accuracy of the numerical results, a computational experiment was conducted by increasing the number of finite elements. The results of the computational experiment were compared at control points, demonstrating the convergence of numerical values. In the next step, the transient heat conduction problem in a non-homogeneous axisymmetric body with a cylindrical cavity of circular cross-section was analyzed. The temperature values at the control points were evaluated. The analysis results indicate that the redistribution of heat flow occurs due to the varying thermophysical properties of the materials and the presence of the cavity.
