Design and Implementation of MIMO-GBSAR Based Railway Foreign Object Intrusion Detection System

Foreign object intrusion is a critical safety hazard threatening the operation of high-speed railways, with existing detection methods often lacking reliability in complex environments. This paper proposes a foreign object detection system based on Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (MIMO-GBSAR), which offers all-weather capability, miniaturization, and high-resolution imaging. The system differentiates and identifies moving and static foreign objects by constructing a virtual aperture array and integrating SAR image reconstruction with change detection techniques. Additionally, equivalent phase center calibration and Doppler focusing algorithms are introduced to improve imaging consistency and enhance target saliency. Field validation demonstrates the system’s excellent recognition performance and adaptability in complex environments, providing a practical and reliable technical solution for railway safety.
