Reconfigurable Polarization with a Dual Probe-Fed Patch Antenna
Dynamic polarization control of the transmit beam helps preserve the received power, especially for different polarizations for multiple receive antennas. A reconfigurable polarization system can better align polarization for maximum transfer for high-sensitivity links for satellites, drones, unmanned vehicles, implantable and wearable medical devices. In this paper, a 2.45 GHz dual probe-feed patch antenna and RF system is designed for full polarization control. The rotational control of the linear polarization as well as circular polarization is demonstrated. Measurement results show that polarization can be controlled with respect to a reference 2.45 GHz dipole antenna.
