A Wideband and High Aperture Efficiency Fabry-Perot Metasurface Antenna
This work presents a wideband, high aperture efficiency Fabry-Perot Metasurface Antenna (FPMA) using a positive reflection phase gradient partially reflective surface (PRPG-PRS). A Metasurface antenna array is employed for its wideband and high gain qualities, meanwhile reducing the profile of the antenna as a frequency-selective surface. A dual-layer PRS with a positive reflection phase gradient is placed above the Metasurface antenna to create a Fabry-Perot cavity across a wide band. The proposed FPMA possesses an impedence bandwidth of 38.01 % (4.9-7.2 GHz) and a 3-dB gain bandwidth of 36.9% (4.75-6.9 GHz). It has a peak again of 17.3 dBi, achieving a high aperture efficiency of 59.5% insdie an aperture of 2.68×2.68 λ2 (λ denotes the wavelength at the 6.7 GHz). Besides, the FPMA has a low profile of only 0.6 λ.
