Design, Analysis, and Performance Enhancement of PMSM for EV Application

A design analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) for electric vehicle (EV) propulsion systems is presented in the present investigation. This motor technology is appropriate for EV applications because to their high-power density and efficiency. Key performance metrics such torque-speed and power-speed characteristics, efficiency, power density, cost, dependability, and control complexity are the main emphasis of the analysis. PMSMs are widely used for four-wheeler applications but PMBLC is still not gaining much popularity for the same application because of the few technical issues. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is carried out for the proposed motor for better analysis and performance enhancement. The benefits and drawbacks of each motor type are examined in the article, taking into account variables including cogging torque, back emf. The study concludes by offering insights into the selection criteria used to determine which motor technology is most suited for particular EV applications, specifically for the four-wheeler vehicles.
