The Ethical Risks of Brain-Computer Interface Empowering Elderly Care and Their Mitigation
Brain-computer interface technology empowering the care of the elderly has many potential benefits, such as strengthening the medical and health management of the elderly, helping the physical function recovery of the elderly, and improving the satisfaction of the emotional needs of the elderly. However, the application of technology often has advantages and disadvantages. While empowering, a series of potential ethical risks such as algorithm deviance, technology dependence, and emotional alienation also need to be examined in time. In order to alleviate these ethical risks, in the future, we should give full play to the technical application value of brain-computer interface to empower the care of the elderly by improving the system to ensure the deviance of discipline algorithms, carrying out conceptual education to get rid of technical dependence, and strengthening emotional care to avoid emotional alienation. Continuously promote the high-quality development of science and technology and informatization in the field of elderly care in my country.
