Superior rectus muscle ocular cysticercosis presenting as subconjunctival cyst
A 32-year-old female presented with swelling in the left eye and a foreign body sensation growing insidiously for 1 month. On examination, a subconjunctival mobile cystic swelling with defined but irregular margins was noted under the superior bulbar conjunctiva in the left eye. CT scan revealed a well-defined hypodense lesion in the left superior conjunctiva with no intraocular or orbital extension and no neural involvement. Intraoperatively, the cyst was found to be arising from the superior rectus tendon. On excision biopsy, the diagnosis of cysticercosis was made. The patient was started on oral albendazole and steroids and is doing fine without any recurrence after 3 months of cyst excision.
